Creating Copy That Connects

Hi, I’m Copywriter

Heather Drenk

A passion for creating Copy To Communicate and Engage

Landing Pages & Websites

Creating has always been a passion. My eye for detail and design enables me to create landing pages and design websites that capture customer attention. The experience from using Word Press, Google Sites and Hostinger Website Builder have enabled me to be become familiar with several formats of web-building.

Building a landing page for your business would be an honor. Let’s talk about the specifics and get more traffic for your business.

Blogs

Most of my blogging has been narrative in nature. For the last three years, I have been blogging for my own board game company, Pizza With a Fork LLC. The board game design company has featured thoughts, trials, celebrations, newsletters and updates for the last 3 years of our company. These blogs are not at regular intervals, rather are updated as events happen in the company.

Many of the blogs mention links and access points to people and businesses with whom we interact. Connecting customers to other products, services, and information has allowed the blogs to be informative and a one-stop-shop. What can I write for you?

Newsletters

Newsletters come in so many formats. Examples from my portfolio include updates, links for websites, contact information, member highlights, images to assist with explanations, tips and tricks, event information, directions, sign ups, attachments, narratives, and call to actions.

*The newsletter I wrote for the Wisconsin Rosemaling Association (WSRA) featured membership information, particulars for offered classes, humorous stories, and even store recommendations for supplies. This newsletter was a lengthy document as it was offered semi-annually.
*For the last 24 years, writing newsletters for classroom families has been part of a weekly routine. Recently, at Van Hise Elementary School, parents and families
received a synopsis of the week, upcoming events and pertinent information for their child.
*A highlight of the Pizza With a Fork newsletter is our Shout Out section. This is where we give gratitude to those who have assisted us, props to those who have played our games, and fun inside jokes that we have with our Pizza People.

Let’s craft an engaging newsletter that your customers will be excited to receive and read!

Rule Books &
How-To Guides

As a board game designer, teacher and director, explaining routines and directions has become a strength. Creating clear steps using images, white space, varied typography, and consistency has worked well for the guides I have created.

Is there something your business needs explained either in detail or in a synopsis? I’d love to write those directions for your company!

Curriculum Design & Development

Connecting to 10-year-olds, teaching colleagues, administration, and families in one project can be quite the task. However, writing for varied audiences has become incredibly enjoyable. Creating documents focused on a specific topic, for a specific audience, and for a specific purpose is what I have been teaching and practicing for the last 24 years as a writing teacher.

Portfolio examples:

  • The Great State Parade Project: This project combined state standards, cross-curricular activities (covering and utilizing several subjects), allowed creative license for students, and gave clear instructions for completing the project. Also included were directions for co-teachers as they taught the project in their classrooms. The parent-facing pages included links to videos and resources to assist their child. Regular updates were given during the project through the weekly newsletter.
  • Postcards From The Garden: This curriculum was a year-long project that included 12 one-hour lessons. This curriculum learn types of figurative language, while exploring the science of plant and animal life. Student and teacher guides were provided.
  • The Greatest Story Ever Told (High Point Church, Madison, WI): With the help of a team, we were able to collaborate and create lessons that taught the stories through the entire Bible in one school year. The curriculum included activities for grades K-5, teacher tips and lesson plans, introductions, and parent pages.

Research & Informational Sheets

As companies grow, product lines and guides can be helpful. While landing pages can be great in this technological age, sometimes one-page explanations of a product, project or service is needed.

Creating attention grabbing layouts and specific, detailed specs can be helpful for your business products and services.

Working together to highlight the services and products in your business can help customers connect quickly and efficiently.
